ABOUT MIDLAND VOLLEYBALL


Midland University Volleyball is now recognized as an elite program on the NAIA national stage.  During the 2018 season, Midland Volleyball set another school attendance record with 2, 123 fans in its home opener.  Midland consistently draws crowds of over 1,500 to its home matches helping create one of the best home court atmosphere’s in NAIA Volleyball.  Midland continued success in the 2018 campaign as they qualified for their 6th consecutive National Championship Tournament.  Midland is one of only four teams among 220 in the NAIA have been to the final site of the National Championships each of the last six years.  This year at Nationals, Midland went 2-1 pool play to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.  They battle a tough match and moved on the Elite 8.  After being down 0-2, Midland battled back to knock off the defending National Champion in a thrilling 5-set match.  In the Fab Four match, Midland took the first, but couldn't close it out to the eventual National Champion, Park.  Midland has now been ranked in the Top 25 for 63 consecutive polls which ties for second as most active streak.   Midland University Volleyball players also excel in the classroom as the team had a cumulative GPA of 3.8 during the 2018-2019 academic year.  Midland had the highest number of scholar-athletes on any NAIA volleyball team this past season with 12 players receiving the honor. Players come to Midland to be challenged on the court and in the classroom.

During these last six years, Midland has had:

  • A record of 172-43
  • 7 players selected to the NAIA National All-Tournament Team (1 in 2013 and 2015, 2 in 2016, 1 in 2017, 2 in 2018)
  • A player selected as the NAIA National Freshman of the Year (2015)
  • GPAC Regular Season Co-Champions (2016)
  • 6 straight trips to the National Tournament (1 Sweet Sixteen finish, 2 Elite 8 finishes, and 2 Fab Four finishes)
  • 4 straight appearances in the GPAC Conference Tournament Finals (2013-2016, won in 2013, 2015)
  • 14 All-American Honors
  • 17 All-Region Honors
  • 35 All-Conference Honors, including 17 First-Team Honors
  • Captain of the Omaha World Herald All-Nebraska Team 4x (2013-2015, 2018)
  • 21 Omaha World Herald All-Nebraska Team Selections
  • 47 NAIA Scholar-Athletes
  • AVCA Team Academic Award 6x
