ABOUT MIDLAND VOLLEYBALL


Midland University Volleyball is now recognized as an elite program on the NAIA national stage.  During the 2016 season, Midland Volleyball drew 11, 234 fans to its home matches helping create one of the best home court atmosphere’s in NAIA Volleyball.  Midland opened the 2016 season with 17 consecutive victories earning the team a #1 ranking for six weeks in the national poll which was a first in the program and a first for any sport at Midland.  The program went on to post an impressive 31-4 record finishing with a post-season #3 ranking, the highest in program history.  The program also qualified for their 4th consecutive National Championship Tournament advancing to the semi-finals for the first time in school history.  Midland also captured the program’s first regular season title in the GPAC this season.  Midland has now been ranked in the Top 10 for 40 of the past 47 polls.   During the 2016 season, Midland University had 6 wins over teams ranked in the Top 10 and 14 wins over teams ranked in the Top 25 or receiving votes.  Midland University Volleyball players also excel in the classroom as the team had a cumulative GPA of 3.92 during the 2016 season.  Midland also had the highest number of scholar-athletes of any NAIA volleyball program with 10 players receiving the honor. Players come to Midland to be challenged on the court and in the classroom.

During these last three years, Midland has had:

  • A record of 125-24
  • 4 players selected to the NAIA National All-Tournament Team (1 in 2013 and 2015, 2 in 2016)
  • A player selected as the NAIA National Freshman of the Year (2015)
  • GPAC Regular Season Co-Champions (2016)
  • 4 straight trips to National Tournament (2 Elite 8 appearances and 1 semi-final)
  • 4 straight appearances in the GPAC Conference Tournament Finals (won in 2013, 2015)
  • 10 All-American Honors
  • 13 All-Region Honors
  • 27 All-Conference Honors, including 13 First-Team Honors
  • Captain of the Omaha World Herald All-Nebraska Team (2013-2015)
  • 13 Omaha World Herald All-Nebraska Team Selections
  • 26 NAIA Scholar-Athletes
  • AVCA Team Academic Award
